Antarctic Warming? Say What?

Well, how about that, warming has magically emerged in Antarctica-or has it? The story is going around that new research has found Antarctic warming, which of course hasn’t previously been found. Others comments seem pertinent.

Is this the first time this claim has been made? No, in fact, NYT has done this, incorrectly, before, in 2005. Steve Milloy berated this bad reporting here. And his comments remain pertinent. First off, the choice of starting point is misleading. The fifties eh? You mean before the late seventies climate shift? It makes a big difference. A better starting point would be 78 or 79. And guess what? There is no indication of warming more recently at all!

Some graphs/images:

Uh, what warming? Not lately.

The trend is so flat...

The trend is so flat...

...that a few years (three on the end, another at the start) totally changes the picture

And it just gets less and less impressive...

So, where is the Antarctic warming? Mostly in the green imagination.

UPDATE:

More evidence piles on (read, I forgot this stuff):

The appinsys.com regional summary-Antarctica.

And:

The World Climate Report Antarctic Archive!

Finally:

The Sea Ice Expands.

UPDATE AGAIN:

Still more opinion:
